ASK LAB created a series of handcrafted visuals for the music video Shazam by Malbek & Suzanna, developing a graphic language that became an integral part of the film’s visual storytelling. Instead of using conventional motion graphics, we built a system of hand-drawn frames that introduced a personal, intimate quality to the moving image.

Every graphic element was drawn by hand in pencil before being scanned and animated. Video sequences were then embedded within these illustrated frames, creating the impression of handwritten letters, sketchbooks, or private diary pages coming to life. The subtle imperfections of the drawings and the tactile quality of the scanned textures reinforce the dark, introspective atmosphere of the music video, allowing the graphics to feel emotionally connected to the narrative rather than simply layered on top of it. The result is a distinctive mixed media visual system where illustration, typography, and motion design merge into a single cinematic language.
