For Issue 5 of Badlon Magazine, ASK LAB developed a series of five sculptural suitcases. They were designed in the exact proportion of the magazine’s format, making it feel like opening each spread like opening a suitcase, revealing its contents layer by layer and transforming print into a tactile narrative experience.
Each suitcase was constructed as a three-dimensional scene filled with volumetric details, miniature figures, and carefully recreated locations inspired by real sites in Paris. Together, the five sculptures tell the evolving story of a couple, from their first encounter to the development of their relationship, with every chapter unfolding through set design, composition, and material depth. The characters were styled in authentic pieces from Acne Studios, Viktor & Rolf, Maison Margiela, Prada, Courrèges, Rick Owens, Burberry, Marc Jacobs, and ALT+R, grounding the visual storytelling in contemporary fashion while maintaining sculptural integrity.
As a Berlin-based creative agency operating across design, visual production, and editorial construction in Germany and internationally, ASK LAB approached the project not as styling, but as world-building. The result is a print editorial that functions as an immersive visual system, where format, fashion, and narrative merge into one cohesive design language.
